~~! ~~Stress Busters~~!~~

As women, we tend to become stressed out very easily. Every level of womanhood comes with its own problems.  On this level, as college students, we tend to face stress whilst trying to cope, manage and balance our school life with our home life whilst still trying to have a fulfilling social life. The trick though, is to learn the skills of how to manage stress effectively and efficiently because the symptoms of stress can have a bad effect on your health both mentally and physically.

So to aid in this process I have put together fsix stress busting methods that all women can follow to achieve a happier and healthier you. J

  1. Change Your Situation
This is one of the number one ways to manage stress in your life. If you don’t like the situation you are in change it, if you can.  Try to resolve whatever it is that is bothering you. Find a trustworthy person you can talk to.  Learn the fine art of letting go and moving on.  You just need to focus on the issues that are causing your stress, whether those issues have to do with money, relationships, jobs, or even family.  The first step to changing your situation is accepting your situation.  Once you’ve accepted what is bothering you, then you can do something about it.

  1. Exercise
Exercise is good for both your physical health and mental health. It is a great way to get stress relief.  Not an exercise fanatic? Well, you can do something as simple as taking a walk to clear your head. It stimulates the production of endorphins (Chemical substances produced by the body that make you feel happy and exhilarated). Exercise alleviates feelings of depression and anxiety, which only add to your stress.  So exercise is not only good for you, but it makes you feel happy.

  1. Have a Balanced Diet
Let’s be honest with ourselves for a minute.  When we are stressed we do not eat that well.  We either load up on carbs, or we just don’t eat enough.  Starving yourself makes your body weaker.  It lowers your metabolism and aids weight gain.  Never let stress push you to eat unhealthy.  Make sure to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, it helps you to beat the tired and logy feeling and helps you to better manage your stress.

  1. Sleep
Stress often causes changes in sleep patterns for women. Either you oversleep or you don’t get enough sleep. Either way you get up feeling irritable and tired the next morning.  It is very important that you get a proper night’s rest.  The body needs at least 6-8 hours of sleep to function properly throughout the day.  It will make you look younger, make you feel more relaxed and give you a subtle glow, which will in turn boost your self esteem and reduce your stress level. Your body will thank you for it. J

  1. Invest in a journal
Journals can be used for writing out your thoughts.  Holding your emotions in is very unhealthy and can lead you to blow up on the most unsuspecting people.  It gives you a chance to release your emotions without having to confide in someone (for those who have trust issues).  It can also help you decipher what stresses you out by giving you an inside look into what goes on in your head. J If you’re afraid someone will see it, simply rip out the page after you’ve written and dispose of it. J

  1. Relaxation
Do things you love to do and things that help you reach your point of relaxation.  Some women enjoy a hot bath others like to cuddle up with a good book because it helps them to escape reality a bit.  Try to keep positive with your methods and do go on any binges. (Ex drinking)

Remember, change is the only constant in life and even though you may feel overwhelmed by stress now, happiness is just around the corner.

The Lord never gives us more than we can bear. J
